You can work in Norway when you are granted a residence permit. If you are granted collective protection, you can start looking for a job in Norway. 

You are not allowed to work as long as your application for collective protection is being processed. Nor can you apply for a temporary work permit while your application is being processed.

If you are waiting for your application for an ordinary protection to be processed, and want to work while you are waiting, you may apply for a temporary work permit.

As an employee, you must pay tax on what you earn in Norway. Then you’ll need a tax deduction card. A tax deduction card shows your employer how much tax they must deduct from your salary. You cannot apply for a tax deduction card until you have a right to work and a job.

An electronic ID gives you access to online services from local and public authorities. For example, you can visit the Tax Administration’s website to apply for and change your tax deduction card and change your address.
